Service Description

Our 5-week Beginner Pottery Class meets once a week for 2 hours, offering a hands-on introduction to clay. Over the course of five sessions, you'll learn wheel throwing, handbuilding, glazing, and more. With expert guidance, you'll create functional and artistic pieces, building skills week by week. All materials and tools are provided—no experience necessary, just bring your creativity and excitement! This is the perfect way to explore pottery in a relaxed, supportive environment. Week 1: Wedging, Clay Basics & Cups Introduction to pottery tools and studio setup Learn how to wedge clay to remove air bubbles Get hands-on with basic techniques for shaping and forming cups Week 2: Trimming Demo & Throwing Practice Demo on trimming leather-hard pieces Continue practicing wheel throwing with a focus on creating cups and mugs Learn how to pull and construct handles Week 3: Throwing Bowls Focus on throwing bowls on the wheel Learn techniques for shaping and centering larger pieces Practice refining your form and creating different sizes of bowls Week 4: Trimming & Drying Pots Trim all your thrown pieces, focusing on achieving a clean and balanced foot Discuss proper drying techniques to prevent cracking Review best practices for preparing pieces for glazing Week 5: Glazing Introduction to different glazing techniques Glaze your fired pieces and learn how to apply glaze for even coverage Final tips on finishing your pottery and preparing for pickup Throughout the course, you’ll receive individual guidance from our instructors to build your skills in a supportive, creative environment. Cancellation Policy

Thank you for choosing to join our 5-week beginner pottery class! We are excited to have you in the studio and look forward to helping you develop your pottery skills. To ensure fairness to all participants, please review our cancellation policy below: Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made 2 weeks or more before the session begins: You will receive a full refund of your total class fee minus $50. Cancellations made less than 2 weeks before the session begins: You will receive a 50% cancellation fee ($175). No-shows or failure to attend the first class: No refunds will be given for those that miss class, there will be open studio time to allow for make-up work though instruction will be limited based on instructor availability. How to Cancel: To cancel your booking or request a refund, please contact us directly at smudgestudios@outlook.com as soon as possible. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method. We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we appreciate your understanding of this policy. We encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns before the class begins.
